the announcement was made by dr kazi anis ahmed, blb publisher and founder of dtc, at a press conference held at the bangladesh national press club on february 23, 2015. other speakers at the event included dtc director and eminent poet kaiser haq, khademul islam, editor of bengal lights books and poet shamim reza, editor of kagoj prokashon.

blb plans to launch the first four books of the series at this year’s dhaka lit fest: two novellas by syed shamsul haque, short stories by hasan azizul huq, syed manzoorul islam’s dinratriguli and rizia rahman’s rokter okkhor.

the translations have been commissioned by dtc and will be published by bengal lights books in bangladesh as well as partners abroad. arunava sinha, the award-winning bengali translator from india, will be the series editor.
